Created by Daren Star for HBO, Sex and the City is a comedy series based on a book by Candace Bushnell of the same name. SATC follows four women — Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York, Samantha Jones, and Miranda Hobbes — in New York City who are best friends and confide in each other as they explore romantic relationships. The series tackled major topics such as sexuality, feminity, and promiscuity.
SATC ran from 1998 to 2004. The show inspired two featured films — Sex and the City (2008) and Sex and the City 2 (2010)— and a prequel series, The Carrie Diaries. In 2021, a sequel series was announced titled And Just Like That... without Kim Cattrall as Samantha Jones.
